George Flett came from Firth, Mainland, Orkneys(abt. 1796). He worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in the Red River Settlement(now Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada). The Hudson's Bay Company's Archives in Winnepeg have a very good research department. This George Flett would be my great-great-grandfather. One of his sons, John Flett, wrote of their emigration to the Oregon Territory in 1841. Four sons emigrated at the time. John, also, had much written about him, so he's source of information. Send me an email if I can help more.
