Janice,
Cannot locate your Thomas Simpson Flett on any of my databases; however, the Simpson part of the name intrigues me. William Flett who was born on 8th February 1867 in Rathven Parish, Findochty, married a Janet (Jessie) Simpson of Portknockie (the neighbouring village) on 5th October 1888 in Findochty Chapel. This brought the Simpson name to one branch of these Fletts, which may or may not be the branch to which your grandfather belongs. William and Jessie emigrated to Canada and I have e-mail contact with some of their descendants in Vancouver and also in Australia, so I will find out if they know anything about your Thomas Simpson Flett.
Although copies of my book (a private publication in limited edition) is held by a large number of libraries and research institutions around the world, I don't believe it has entered the States yet. However all that remains is a few unrevised editions (a few small typographical errors which the proofreaders overlooked) if you will settle for one of these you will need to let me have your 'snail-mail' address.
Regards
John Hutton
