This is the first time I've seen anything on their son John.

Hopefully, your post well help someone, someday.

I still believe John in Caldwell County, KY was the ship's carpenter, due to the tools in his inventory.

My John FLINT is the other one in the county born between 29 Oct 1762 - Jan 1763 in Ireland.

It's interesting, to me, Benoni SWEARINGEN bought the land John would have received, along with two other men. Benoni lived in Washington County, MD. So close to your FLINT family.
