Thanks for your reply and the information about Ronald Audet who has researched the Flippen family in Virginia. I have seen a copy of Ralph Flippen's will that I accessed through the online Virginia Library and, although the copy posted on the internet may not be complete, it names his wife as Martha Flippen with no mention of her maiden name. I am fairly well convinced that his wife was Martha Scott of New Kent, but I will be in contact with Mr. Audet to see what documentation he may have.
My "Flippen connection" is through Ralph and Martha's daughter Elizabeth who married William Hudgens.
