Tom,
My name is Donald R. Flippen, I believe that we are first cousins. My father is Charles Samuel FLippen, born in Ringgold(not sure of the spelling), VA. His Father's name was Charles Christopher Flippen, which I believe was your Grandfather.
The location of Ringgold, VA is approx. forty miles east of Danville, VA
I have a family Bible that traces our Grandmother's Family, "Dodson". She only recorded a few names but not much about "Flippen".
I may have more info, if you have direct questions.
I would be interested in info concerning the origin of the name "Flippen" i.e. Euro connecting, etc. If you have that info let me know.

Don F
