Hi Michael! There are a few considerations I forgot to add to my posting last night.First, it is important to remember that Valentine Flohr and Maria Elisabeth Zimmerman were married in this country. There is no mention at all of their marriage in German church records from their former church.I know for I have searched carefully. Thus the person who sent that information on the parents of Elisabeth Zimmerman had no way at all of knowing if she was the one who married Valentine Flohr.
Second, the Peter Zimmerman she listed died before Elisabeth ever came to this country.I have a copy of his death record.I searched the records carefully to see if perhaps her mother remarried a George Zimmerman but could find no record of her mother getting remarried. At least not in the church they had been attending. That does not rule out the possibility that she was married elsewhere.
Third, the Elsabeth Zimmerman she listed was born on a different date than the one given for Elisabeth Zimmerman Flohr in her obit.I thought perhaps the first Elisabeth Zimmerman died and a second Elisbaeth was born on the correct date.I searched the death records and could find no death for Elisabeth Zimmerman. Also, there was no child named Elisabeth Zimmerman born on the date given in the obit. The reason for this search was because Valentine Flohr was the second child born to Gallus Flohr by the name of Valentine. His brother died a few months before he was born and the parents used that name again. This was a common practice.
Fourth, while it is true that a son of Peter Zimmerman (Johannes) and a daughter of Gallus Flohr (Ursula) did get married, that does not prove that the Maria Elisabeth Zimmerman was the one who married Valentine Flohr.
Hope these considerations help clarify this question a bit more.
Kathy
