I am trying to learn more information on a Flora/Trim family of St. Lawrence Co., NY that married into my family. My ancestor, Julia Ann (Havens) Furness Carter may have married a Joseph Trim/m about 1866-1869, as her 3rd husband.

I have not been able to find them in the 1870 census. But in the 1880 Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence Co., NY census, Julia is listed as Julia Floria and the head of the household with her Carter children. I have not been able to locate Joseph in this census.

Julia is the daughter of Horace Havens, who noted her in his will dated 1880, as Julia Trimm.

An old newspaper article, St. Lawrence Rep., Nov. 16, 1869 -
Attempted Robbery -
"On Saturday night as Horace Havens was returning home from this city in company with a son and daughter, he was assaulted by a couple of men who had secreted themselves by the roadside. One of the men struck Mr. Havens, the younger, on the head with a sled stake which partially stunned him, while the other tackled Mr. Havens, the elder, but before they could accomplish their purpose of robbery they were frightened off. It turned out that the robbers were Joseph Trim, a son-in-law of Mr. Havens and his brother Felix Trim. Pursuit was made by several officers from this city on Sunday but without success. It is thought the villains have made their escape into Canada."

I found a "Felix Trim, alias Felix Flora" that served in the Civil War from NY. I am not sure which is the alias -- Flora or Trim. He applied for pension from Canada and his wife Margaret applied for widow's pension.

I have found Felix Flora in the following census:

1881 Elizabethtown, Brockville, Ontario, Canada census, page 24, district 109

Margaret Flora Aug 8 1848 Ontario Brockville Town, East Ward wife
Ethel Flora Sep 4 1883 Ontario Brockville Town, East Ward daughter

I have not been able to find any more information on Joseph Trim/Flora. Is this Felix and Joseph Flora/Trim of your family?
