Hi Jeff,

You would need to research your ancestry to find the origin of your particular family. If you connect to the Patrick FLORIDA family from Wilson County, TN, they came from Burke County, NC before that, and Loudoun Co., VA before that. Some of the ways I have found Patrick's name in original records variously spelled are:
FLORIDA
FLORITY
FLURRIDA
FLORADAY
FLORIDY
FLORIDAY
FLAHARTY
OFLORIDY
OFLAHERTY
The various spellings would suggest an Irish origin for Patrick.
