I feel like a "bloomin' idiot", but I am stuck on a Flowers line also.My husbands ggg-grandfather was known as William Higgins when he was living in Walhalla, SC around 1870.After a bit of trouble in that area he moved to Western North Carolina and changed his name to Flowers. He was known by both names in the area, and there was a George Flowers that he appears to be acquainted with, and the area he moved to was near some other Flowers families, but we can't find a connection. One son stayed in that area, another moved to Spartanburg, SC, and both kept the name of Flowers. The unusual name of Arkelius (with varied spellings) keeps cropping up in the family.I have found a Higgins with that name that moved from Virginia to NC prior to all this nonsense.Does this crazy story fit in any way with anyone else's Flowers garden? If so please email me at [email protected], Marcie
