Jacob Flowers of Monroe LA

I am a descendent of Jacob Flowers b. 1820 in GA. I have found a marriage license on Ancestry to Eliza McCullough
on Jan 13,1844 in Chambers Co AL.(assuming this is correct). I have found him & Eliza and two children in 1850 in El Dorado, Ark; 1860 census in Quachita Parish, La, with a wife named "Jane" and the children from the 1850
census plus others. In the 1870 census his children are living in different households in Union Parish. He is living with a Baker family in Quachita parish. I assumed his wifes death broke the family up. In the 1880 census I have found his oldest,a son, James Jasper married to Frances Royan Scarbrough, daughter of Noah Scarbrough in Union Parish. Jacob is living in Quachita Parish, alone with a daughter on each side of him. One is my great grandmother. I believe he died after 1880. I can find his children downline and have made contact with two other descendents. I have searched any and all families that might be related and am not able to find any leads to parents or siblings. In the 1880 census Jacob lists his father as being from NC. Any help would be most appreciated. I think I've read every posting on Genforum for any clues!
Thanks Fran
