To my Yankee cousins: I have an extensive FLOYD tree dating back to before Christ. Our branch stemmed from Wales but several generations lived in Ireland starting in the 1600s. The survivors fled after the Massacre in 1798.While researching twenty years ago I ran across a Francis Floyd (a known relative) who left France and first went to Barbados, then to the Virginia Territory in the early 1700s. I lost his trail but he was indoubtadly a Catholic, or maybe an early Hugenot and might have ended in (French)Louisiana after the Purchase. Our branch were late arrivals in Canada and some went to Washinton State during the Depression.
