Sometime back I posted a FLOOD message to
Flood GenForum--see No. 129.
Yes, they are related!!
Since I received so many requests about
Mr. Patterson's research in the earliest
Flood\Fludd families, which I had posted earlier(#129),I want to add this information:
About 1988 I found that Mr. Patterson had
done Flood\Fludd research and knew there were
three books published by him. After many
years of frustration at being unable to find
him, was lucky enough to finally contact him
in Virginia by telephone.
He actually went to Ireland and researched
his Flood family connections.
He wrote three books,titles being:
(1)"Flood Family History in England,
Ireland and America 1550 to 1980"
by Charles Robley Patterson, 1981.
Published by C R Patterson, Registration
No. TX 758-274. Copyrighted.
(2)"Flood Family Triad-A Family History in England,Ireland and America from A.D.1550 to 1850"
by Charles R Patterson, 1982.
Reg.No.TXu 86-903. copyrighted
(3)"History of the Flood Family and Their Times in America" whose Ancestor was Sir Thomas Fludd of Milgate House, Bersted,County Kent, England. From the Earliest 'Ancient Planter' of Virginia in 1611 to the Present".
Copyright 1983.
Reg. No. TX 1-165-780. copyrighted.
The earliest Fludd(Flood)to America was
Colonel John Fludd(Flood)of Virginia.
Now I find there is a fourth book written
by Mr. Patterson which
is in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Family
History Library. I do not have a copy.
Since his research goes back to the 12th
Century Ririd Vlaidd-pronounced Flaidd--
of Salop(Shropshire,England, do feel that
he has done a really good research job.
Contact Mr. Charles Robley Patterson in
Charlottesville,Virginia. I do not have
his address at the present. He is elderly.
Perhaps all four books are at the LDS
Library in Salt Lake City??
