I commend John Fluke for the information and his interest and persistence! Concerning the etymology of the surname Fluck/Flook, there is another possibility. I credit James Quigley for bringing the following from several German language surname dictionaries to my attention:

Deutsche Namenkunde by Gottschald, said the surname Fluck derives from the German word "Fluegge", which means "fledged", that is,
when a young bird has all its feathers. According to Gottschald, the name
Fluck itself means "ruestig", or "lively", and, in some contexts, "briskly."

The Etymologisches Woerterbuch der Deutschen Familiennamen by Brechenmacher also confirms that the surname Fluck comes from the German "Fluegge", and that it means "munter", or "lively."

Finally, in a book called Die Deutsche Familiennamen by Heinitze-Cascorbi, the word Fluck is said to come from "fluegge", and means "lebhaft", or "lively." According to Heinitze, other versions are Flueck and Flick.

According to German-American Surnames by George F. Jones, the surnames Fluck,
Fluegge, Fluegger, and Flueggert all mean "fledged" or "lively."

According to Lambert's PA German Dictionary, "flick" means "fledged" and comes from the German "fluegge".

I hope this information adds to the discussion.
