Wilhelm Fluck of Baden, Germany

Since this seems to be the forum for variations on the Fluck name, I thought I would share this information for any future researchers. My great-great grandfather, Wilhelm Fluck, was born in Leipferdingen, Baden in 1808 and emigrated to the German colony of La Colonia Tovar, Venezuela in 1842, as part of an expedition to bring hard-working German craftsmen and farmers to Venezuela to develop remote parts of that country. He met my great-great grandmother Petronella Morand there, and they came to the United States around 1848, settling in Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. The Fluck name was changed upon their arrival in America to Flick, probably because of a large number of Flicks living in neighboring Orange County, Indiana.
There are still a good many Flucks living in the Leipferdingen area, and my brother has been corresponding with some for a number of years.
