Thanks for responding. I have seen the place of birth you mention in a lot of the census and church records.
"Magyarorszag" is the Hungarian word for Hungary. Magyar = Hungarian; orszag = country. Unfortunately, it is not the name of a "town" in Hungary.
I don't have much information on my FODOR clan. They came from Bogacs, Borsod Megye, Mezokovesd Jaras, Hungary. I have been researching the FODOR names on the Ellis Island site. When I found your post about Rozalia; decided to sent you the info.
The Rosalia FODOR I sent you arrived Ellis Island March 17, 1913. Her age is listed as 26, birth would then be about 1887. Sorry it wasn't your Rose :-)
There are Istvan (Steve) and Jozsef (Joseph) FODOR listed from Bogacs.
Good luck in you research. There were some other Rosalia FODOR on the Ellis Island list, but I did not check the manifest for them. Do you know what Megye your FODOR clan came from? When you found your Rose on the 1920 census, did it state what year she immigrated?
Surnames: NAGY, DARAGO, FARKAS, KIS (Kiss, Kish), LENART, GYORI, VARGA, HAJDU, MAKO, LAKATOS, FODOR, KOVACS, SZIGETE, KERESZTES, BENCZE, PUZSAR, SZABO (Sabo)
