greetings fellow clansmen and clanswomen. I have visited the Fogarty castle, that is located outside Thurles,Ireland. My limited understanding of the history of our castle is that it consists of two structures. The most prominent structure is in need of repair and the plans for it are that it be repaired and converted into a bed and breakfast castle. The other structure is what remains of the original castle wall that was constructed prior to 1000 AD, according to, I was told, the Book of Ulster. The Fogarty family was the leading family in that part of Ireland for at least 1000 years. We have outstanding ancestors that have accomplished many things but that's another story. I highly recommend visiting our castle. The countryside is beautiful and you can stay in a hotel on the outskirts of Thurles, which is about halfway between Dublin and Cork. We also have a lot to be proud of in our general Irish ancestry. This is well described in the book, The History of the Irish Race by Sean McManus. That's all for now and may God bless you and may you find your own four-leafed clovers in life.
