Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. Jeremiah, my gggrandfather, would probably have been born in the 1820's as his wife's dob is 1823 and his son's dob is 1844. So the son would have been in his late teens when they came to US but the father didn't come. The passenger list shows Margaret Morrisey Cummings with her daughter Catherine Fogarty, son Patrick Cummings and grandson Jeremiah Fogarty. I assume Jeremiah (I'll call him "senior" for ease)had died prior to departure of family. His widow would have been in her forties.
Mary Elizabeth Corcoran Fogarty was Jeremiah senior's daughter-in-law. She was born in Tioga, NY and her next sister was born in PA in 1864 but I don't know where. So I don't know of a Fogarty connection in PA.
So this doesn't leave us with anything conclusive I think. I don't know how to get info on Jeremaih senior as they couldn't help me in Carrick on Suir. I know there are alot of Fogartys now in Tipperary so it isn't an uncommon name.
I'll let you know if I ever get more spcific info. Thanks again, Carol
