in a recent issue of the Pa. Dutchman mention was made of the fogelsong family from Germany. Some of your readers might be intersested in the following records from Maryland,Virginia,Pennsylvainia and Ohio
1)Will of Christian Fogelson,of Stephensburg,frederick Co. Virginia,written april 27,1777,probated may 06,1777.mentions the following persons:John Mortburgher;his sister-in-law,Catherine Fogelson,her children;brother Simon Fogelson,of Germantown,Pa.;my other two brothers and other sister,one of Virginia and the other of Pa.,whose names at present i cannot recollect.Appoints Jno.M.Ginns and Jacob Trout,both of Stephensburg,administrators.
2)Will of George Fogelsong,of Stephensburg,Frederick Co.,Virginia,written Jan.02,1773,probated Oct.06,1773.He was Apparently a brother of the Above Christian Fogelson.Bequeaths to wife Catherine,lots 65 and 66 in Stephensburg,each of 10 acres. mentions son, George, he being firstborn.
3)Among Frederick County, Virginia,marriages,we find:Charles Fogelsong and Margaret Ewe,Mar 11,1794,Minister Christian Streit,and Catherine Fogelsay to Nicolas yenders, Jan.05,1789, Minister Christian Streit.
4)May 01,1804, Phillip Wendele,executor of jacob Fogelsong,of Shenandoah Co., Va.,sells lot 65 in Stephensburg to Andrew Correll.This Jacob was probably a son of George Fogelson who died 1773.
5)Simon Fogelson,metioned in will of brother Christian,was born in Germany in 1720, came to Philadelphia on ship Marlborough, Sept. 23,1741. he deid may 22,1791,in Germantown,Pa. and is buried in the Upper Germantown Burying Ground.
6)Will of Christian Fogelson, of jerusalem Town (later Hagerstown)md.,wife Barbara,probated march 9,1791,metions following children:John Frederick (b.1772),Christian,Catharina,John,and David. Distribution of his estate was made to the following:Eve Yenders,Frederick Fogelson,Christian Fogelsong,Catherine Fogelson,John Fogelsong and David Fogelsong. the distribution of the estate of his son frederick was made Sept.20,1798,to Frederick`s mother,Barbara Fogelsong,and his brothers and sisters,Eve gentice,Christian Fogelsong,Catherine Arnold,and John Fogelsong
7)Was the Christian Fogelson and wife Barbara (Rhinebarger),whose eldest son,John george,b.Nov.23,1801,and baptized in a reformed Church of Hagerstown,the son of the above Christian Fogelson? soon after 1801 Christian and his wife went to Jackson Twp.,Montgomery County,Ohio.Here Christian died about May,1807,leaving his widow,Barbara,and the following minor children:Catherine Fogelsong,b.Oct.13,1798(md.James Wilson),George Fogelsong,b.Nov.23,1801(md.Mary Overlees),Jacob Fogelsong,b.Dec.17,1803,and Christian Fogelsong,b.Aug.23,1805(md.Phebe Lesly),The widow ,Barbara,married Secondly,May 01,1808,to John Hiser.
8)Johan Phillip Vogelsang Came to America on the ship EASTERN BRANCH; arriving Oct.13,1753. he settled in Warrington Twp.,York County,Pa..He died about 1807. I found record of four sons:Phillip Vogelsong,Christopher Vogelsong,Nicholas Vogelsong,and John Vogelsong(1783-1849,md.Mary Lichty)
9)Following Obituary Printed in the WESTERN CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE,May 16,1934,"George Fogelsong,Born in Germany,d.July,1833,about 47years of age,at Lebanon,Ohio(Warren County).wife deceased.(atherine,d.1831,aged 43years)Issue,Christian,youngest daughter died before he did.Lived in Hagerstown,Md.,a potter by trade;a first settler of lebanon." Indeenture record of Washington Co. Md.,George fogelsong,aged 14 years,bound to John Shnively to learn pottery trade,June 14,1796
