John Foley was the son of Michael Foley and Margaret Cheevers. Michael and Margaret immigrated through Canada and New York to Michigan. They settled in Riley Township, Michigan and are identified in the 1860 census. Both are buried in Kenockee Township Cemetery (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery) next to their son Peter Foley.Their stones say Grand Father 1787-1866 and Grand Mother (1791-1875).Their names where identified in Peter's death record in St. Clair County.
The births of their five children are listed in the parish register of Saint James and Templetown Parish, County Wexford, Ireland near Fethard).
Thomas born Jan 21, 1815.
John born Aug 4, 1817.
Patrick born May 20, 1820.
Anne born August 26, 1829.
Peter born August 4, 1832.
Some of these dates are at odds with other birth dates that we have but they are from an original source, are close to the dates and the birth order of the children does match.
I also have baptism dates and sponsors.
I have other detailed information thanks to John O'Neill of Dublin. The search move to Michael and Margaret and we have a new family connection in the Cheevers to research.
