Goosberry Hill, Newmarket, Co. Cork, Ireland
I have some letters or my Gr. Grandfather's that I have been curious about, and was wondering if anyone recognized any of this information. Most of the letters are from Bridget Foley of Gooseberry Hill, Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland. The first is to my Gr. Gr. Grandfather John Donohue, and makes reference to his sister (Bridget's mother) Maria. The rest are to my Gr. Grandfather Walter Patrick Donohue, they contain the names Daniel Foley, Jerry(?), Patrick Foley and Michael Foley. All of the brothers came to the United States in the late 1800's.Bridget mentions in a letter dated February 12th 1908, that Patrick lives in Frisco (TX).A letter recieved from Michael states that he is leaving Newmarket June 13, 1894 bound for Lucas, MO by way of New York.A later letter from Michael is from Lansford, North Dakota (No Date).Another letter dated June 1st 1897 from Bridget mentions "the brothers farming in a place called Peculiar Cash, CO."
Does any of this sound familiar? If so, please post a reply.
Thanks Aaron
