Hi, Autumn!
Yes, my grgrandmother, Susan Elizabeth Folks, daughter of William (Catherine's brother) taught my mother several German words,etc. Her parents were both of Germanic descent. Her mother was a Harper (Herber). Susan lived well into her nineties and lived with my mother's family.
We are lucky to have such great oral histories!
