FRANCIS FOLLETT m. 3 July 1853 in Ashtabula Co., OH, MARTHA ANN MATHER

According to the USGenWeb site for Ashtabula Co., OH, marriages, Francis Follett m. 3 Jul 1853 Martha Ann Mather. In either the 1870 or 1880 Federal Census for Pierpont Twp., Ashtabula Co., OH, there is an elderly William E. Mather living in the household of Francis and Martha Follett.

Is this Martha Ann Mather the d/o William Ely Mather and Catharine Shaylor Brooks? If so, I would like more information on the Follett and Mather families.

Catharine Shaylor Brooks was a younger sister of my 3rd g-grandfather, Wakeman Brooks. Their parents were Joseph Brooks and Jemima Shaylor, and their children were:

1. Rebecca Brooks m. Nehemiah Brainard, Jr. (no children) and lived in Haddam, CT, until some years after Nehemiah died, then she moved to Bradford Co., PA, to be near her brother and other family members.

2. Wakeman Brooks m. 1st Anna Ely; m. 2nd Caroline Matilda Rogers (my ancestor). Anna and Matilda were first cousins. Wakeman had several chidlren w/each wife. Wakeman married Anna and Matilda in West Springfield, Hampden Co., MA; some children were born in MA, and others in Bradford Co., PA. Wakeman and Anna are buried in the Leona Cemetery, Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA.

3. Catharine Shaylor Brooks m. William Ely Mather. I believe this is his second marriage. I believe his first was to a Martha Ray, and they had a son, William. After her death, he married Catharine, and they had at least two daughters, Mary Brainard and Caroline. Catharine and William were married in Haddam, CT. They lived for a short time in Bradford Co., PA, and moved on to Ashtabula Co., OH. I also found in the Ashtabula Co. marriage records a Mary B. Mathews m. Arlinus Brower. This is interesting because the old family genealogy that I have states that Catharine's daughter, Mary, married an Arlinus Bower, and they had a son, William.

4. Jemima Brooks m. Stephen Hubbard. They lived for awhile in Bradford Co., PA, then moved to NYS, and later to MI. They had several children, and many of their descendants stayed in MI.

After Catharine's mother died, Joseph Brooks m. Martha Hubbard and they had several children. Joseph Brooks was b. abt. 1765 in Haddam, Middlesex Co., CT, and d. in Springfield Twp., Bradford Co., PA. He is buried in the Leona Cemetery in Springfield Twp.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to find information regarding this family for a long time. Our family genealogy stated that Catharine Shaylor Brooks m. William Mathews, BUT the marriage record of the 1st Congregational Church of Haddam, CT, states that she married William Ely Mather in 1825.
