African American Folmars, Romulus Mich.

I'd like to know if anyone knows about my Folmar line. It is an unusual last name by any standards, but I think this is especially true for me because I happen to be African American. My father, Leonard was born and raised in Romulus, Michigan outside of Detroit. His father's name was James but he died when my father was very young. As a result we know very little about our Folmar anscestors. My grandmother remarried and never kept in touch with her Folmar relatives (If there were any). I have little info at the present time. I will be getting more details soon, but in the meantime I'm looking for any info that might help me with a starting point.
