Elizabeth Garren was the mother of Burbridge Stillwell Fonner. It is unlikely that his father, Stillwell Fonner, had the middle name Burbridge. Elizabeth Garren was the daughter of Burbridge and Nancy Garren. Her son, Burbridge Stillwell Fonner was named for his grandfather, Burbridge Garren. Burbridge Garren was born January 22, 1804 in Millville, Cumberland County, New Jersey. He died March 2, 1863 in Mifflin or Huntingdon County. Burbridge married Nancy "Ann" (maiden name unknown) on August 4, 1825. She was born September 11, 1804 in Pa. and died in Wayne Twp., Mifflin County, after 1880. Elizabeth Garren Fonner was born June 4, 1826 in Millville, Cumberland County, New Jersey. She was the oldest of seven Garren children. The Garren family moved to Wayne Twp., Mifflin Co.,Pa. about 1835. They moved to Hopewell Twp., Bedford County prior to 1840, and they were living in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon County by 1850. Elizabeth Garren married Stillwell Fonner on May 4, 1848 in Huntingdon County. Following Stillwell's death in the Civil War, Elizabeth and her children lived for many years in Wayne Twp., Mifflin County. Elizabeth's sister was Susanna Garren Barben (10/3/1827 - 3/10/1910), the wife of Alexander Barben. Her other siblings were Mary Ann (born 8/23/1829), Margaret (2/15/1832 - 1/3/1876), Emeline (10/16/1835 - 1/17/1866), Jane (7/8/1839 - 2/13/1889), and John A. (born 1843). In 1880, Burbridge Fonner was living in Wayne Twp., with his aunt and uncle, Alexander and Susan Barben, and his grandmother, Nancy Garren. In 1910, Burbridge Fonner was living in Wayne Twp. with his children Cora, James, and George. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Gilliland was deceased. In 1910, Ruby Fonner, the 15 year old daughter of Burbridge and Mary Elizabeth Fonner, was living with Burbridge's uncle, Alexander Barben.
