I can't believe I didn't see this post earlier. I had the spelling as FOOSE, though I was aware that FOOS is at times used.
Anyway, I'm descended through Effie Potter.
According to someone's pedigree file on FamilySearch.Org, Charlotte's parents were Joseph Foos born about 1807 and Charlotte Newton born about 1809-both are from Ohio. I've requested a copy of the marriage license and expect it any day and I hope it will have some info on it.
I will email you-I can send my complete gedcom file if you'd like!
