Genoa history:

There are several Foppianos from Genoa. One line is from the Italian Riviera, east of Genoa. It is a village called Cicagna up in the hills above the ocean. There are mnay Foppianos buried there. Noble lineage: Horazio Foppiano was governor of the state of Ragusa in 1270 (called Dubrovnik today. More to come if you want it....)
