Margaret LaFORCE m. John B. BLAKE c1854 AL/GA?
Searching for the origins of my GG-Gr'mother Margaret whose last name, family tradition says, was LaFORCE.
She appears with husband John B. BLAKE on the 1860 Floyd Co. GA census with 3 children Walter-5, Claida-3 and Taluda-1, thus I surmise they wed c1854. No marriage bond can be found for them; many were burned in this area during the unCivil War. She was listed as John's widow in his estate papers.
Husband John was living in his parents' home on the 1850 Cherokee Co. AL census, just across the state border from where they lived on the 1860 in GA.
Margaret was born 20 Nov 1831, died 18 July 1909 per her tombstone in DeKalb Co. AL. She is believed to have been born in either Canada or Michigan, per censuses.
Does this ring any bells?
Thanks for any help,
Sharron Spencer
