Ira Fordham b. NY abt. 1814.

I'm throwing this out to see if any one has anything definitive on Ira Fordham.

In 1840, Ira W. is living in Plattsburgh, Clinton Co. NY.

In 1850, Ira is 36 and living in Russell, St. Lawrence Co. NY, next door to my gr gr gr gr grandparents, Jesse Fordham and Lydia Allard Fordham. Jesse is 57 or 67-the ink is smudged and hard to read, Lydia is 46. I rule her out as a mother to Ira, and I've never found where my Jesse had a son named Ira. In this census is says that Ira was born in NH. Jesse b. in NY-but I've seen conflicting information on that. Ira is married and lives w/wife Nancy, children Charles, James and Harriet. My "theory" is perhaps he is from the second marriage of Jesse's father John, to Lydia CHILDS. John and Lydia are said to have a child John born in or about 1805. I have not proven this year or child.

In the 1870 census, Ira A. W. Fordham, lives in Edwards, St. Lawrence Co., working as a black smith. Place of birth to be NY, same as wife, NY.

In 1880, Ira A. is living in Edwards, age 66. He's b. in NY, wife b. NH. working as a black smith and has two servants and his brother John Fordham, age 70 living with them. So it's possible that he was born abt. 1810. It said both of their parents were born in NY.

I'm quite certain he's family, but the where and how are the questions I'm looking at for answers. Thanks for looking.

Kathy
