It seems that the Fordie clan did hail from Scotland way back and research is still continuing. There were some Fordies in Durham at one time.
There is a British Army connection which has taken us to Kent & Yorkshire, England; Nova Scotia, Canada and also to America and now to Australia ! As yet I haven't come across a Jack Fordie, it could be possible that the name Jack is a derivative. The name James is found to be repeated quite a lot in the Fordie families.
