Hi Rachael

My son Christopher replied to the lead on the Fordie Family.

We are from Danderhall, Midlothian just outside Edinburgh. My father Robert Jamieson Fordie and my grandfather also Robert Jamieson Fordie were from Leith in Edinburgh.

My grandfather had six brothers with birth-dates from 1877-1893, my grandfather was the youngest.

The brothers names were, with the oldest first, Archibald, William, John Kilpatrick (who went to America?), Hamilton, James, Andrew Eckford, Robert Jamieson.

My great grandfather, Archibald Fordie was born in 1852 In the Parish of Tranent, East Lothian.

My great great grandfather, William Fordie was born in 1815.

This is about as far as we got but in Scotland generally christian names repeated through the families.

We still have a lot more work to do and the recent series on BBC2 has fired up our interest once again.

I look forward to hearing from you and sharing information.

Bob Fordie
