Sullivan Forehand (born October 10, 1831, Croydon, NH)
married:
Nettie Allen, August 9, 1859.
Sullivan Forehand married the daughter of Ethan Allen (this was the Ethan allen who manufactured guns). Sullivan Forehand and Henry Wadsworth, another son-in-law (of Ethan Allen?) took over the business when Ethan Allen died in 1871 and the company became known as Forehand and Wadsworth. They ran the company together until 1890 when Wadsworth retired. At that time, the company became known as the Forehand Arms Company and manufactured guns until the early 1900's. (This from a web site address which I have lost.)
However, I have a Nickle-Plated, top-break revolver (similar to the Smith & Wesson) of about 36 calibre. The top of the 3" barrel is stamped: Forehand Arms Co. Worchester Mass.U.S.A. Pat'd Dec. 7, 86 & Jan 11, 87.It was well constructed and tightly fitted. The handgrips are (probably) black bakelite with an 8-pointed star surrounding the attaching screw. A shield with 17 Stars above 17 stripes appears under a banner bearing the letters "F & W" that partially surrounds the shield. The gun is not a "shooter" due to it's age and wear in the locking mechanism but is a nice curio.
