Micajah Forkner of Liberty Township, Henry County, Millville,Indiana is my great-great-grandfather on my mother's side.
Micajah was born in 1814 in Grayson County, Virginia and is the son of Issac Forkner. Isaac Forkner was the son of William Forkner of Surrey County, North Carolina.Isaac Forkner moved to Grayson County, Virginia in 1812 and was soldier in the War 1812-15 and for his service in that conflict, he received a government land warrant and moved from Virginia in 1819 to Indiana.Initially, settled in Wayne County, Centreville, Indiana and eventually moved again in 1822 to Liberty Township, Henry County, Indiana.
Micajah Forkner married his first wife Elizabeth Allen in 1835 and she died 1849 and there were 6 children. Micajah Forkner married his second wife Margaret A. Jordan in 1852 and there were 7 children.
Jesse Forkner was also a son of Isaac Forkner and brother to Micajah.Jesse followed his father to Liberty Township, Indiana.Jesse held the position of collector in Henry County in 1827 and later on served as sheriff for 2 terms from 1829 to 1833.
