My husband's maternal grandfather was Houston Lillard Davis, born 1857 at Sweetwater, Monroe Co., TN to Pleasant Verbin Davis and his first wife, Amanda Akins. Amanda died when Houston was 2 weeks old, his father married a second time to Sarah Forkner, they moved after 1880 to what is now Love County, Oklahoma. Several of Sarah's Forkner family came with them, and there are still Forkners in Love County, Oklahoma. I feel quite sure your family and Sarah's are related. Pleasant and Sarah lived in Loudon County, Tennessee, moving there from Monroe County. Loudon was created in 1870. They lived at Philadelphia, Tennessee, which was in Monroe County until the new county of Loudon was created, Philadelphia is just 4 miles from Sweetwater, which was the Tennessee Cherokee Capitol of ECHOTA until the Indians were remoned, then the white settlers changed the name to SWEETWATER, Monroe County, Tennessee.
