Hello Jon- I'm writing in hopes you may know more about Mary Ann Forkner's life after the death of her husband, Joseph Forkner, in the Civil War. I have not been able to locate records for her after the 1860 US census and her marriage in 1861. My great-great grandfather was Mary Ann's brother, Thomas Jefferson Nichols (who was married to Elizabeth Forkner). My uncle has an envelope that had belonged to Jefferson. In the "from" corner it is marked with the name Yeats. Do you know if "Rama" was short for another name?
I read somewhere (on this forum, I think) that Mary Ann moved to Illinois. That would make sense as her parents and several siblings moved there after the Civil War(although most did not stay). I'd be most grateful for any information. Thank you, Dana
