Looking for information on Rachel Faulkner/Fortner/Forkner, widow of Jacob Forkner, and wife of ? Powel/Powell.

Edgefield Co., SC. Land Deed, dated 10-20-1794, recorded 7-8-1797, (Deed Book #25, pg. #287) states, "Rachel Powel of the state of Georgia, executrix of Will of Jacob Forkner of the state of Georgia, deceased, conveys to Benjamin Forkner of Edgefield Co., SC. a tract of 100 acres in Edgefield Co. being part of a 200 acre tract of the estate of Jacob Forkner. Granted to Benjamin Forkner as a legate or heir of Jacob Forkner. Wittness: Francis Davis and Thomas Harrison".

Rachel originally married to Jacob Faulkner/Fortner/Forkner (surname interchangeable) and then married ? Powel/Powell after Jacob's death. Rachel likely married 2nd husband in Warren Co., GA. and that husband was dead by 1794

Rachel Powell listed on the 1794 Warren Co., GA. Tax list in Lawsons District.

Other Powells listed on same tax list were:

Lewis Powell - Bunkleys District.
Moses Powell - Bunkleys District.
Secretary Powell - Beckhams District.
Stephan Powell - Beckhams District.
William Powell - Lawsons District.

Looking for information in Edgefield, SC. on the Benjamin Forkner cited in the above deed. As surname Forkner was interchangeable with Faulkner/Fortner at various time in various familial branches of descendants of the Faulkners/Fortners of Edgefield, SC. would be interested in any information on these families prior to 1830.

Thank you. Jan Lawson.
