Rev. William H. FORMOSA was born 1835 in Philadelphia, Delaware Co., PA, son of George and Lydia FORMOSA, and died 1901 in Marblehead, Essex Co., MA; Burial: 1901, Harborview Cemetery, Marblehead, Essex Co., MA3. He married Mary Abigail ORNE December 24, 1868 in Marblehead, Essex Co., MA, daughter of Adoniran Collins ORNE and Abigail Beckett HAWKES. She was born September 16, 1842 in Marblehead, Essex Co., MA1,2, daughter of Adoniram Collins and Abigail Beckett (Hawkes) ORNE and died 1907 in Marblehead, Essex Co., MA; Burial: 1907, Harborview Cemetery, Marblehead, Essex Co., MA4. Adoniram Collins7 ORNE, son of John6 and Mary23 (Pearce) Orne, was born in 1805 in Marblehead, and baptized there Feb. 26, 1809.
He married, March 3, 1837, Abigail Beckett Hawkes. He was a prominent citizen of Marblehead, and his picture is printed in Road's Marblehead. In 1835, after persistent efforts, he caused an extension of Pleasant Street to be laid out by the county commissioners, from the corner of Spring Street, over the hill to Washington Street, which effected a great improvement. April 20, 1861, he was moderator of the town meeting to provide for families of the soldiers. He was, on May 15 1877, after thirty years of agitation, appointed chairman of a committee of five to make a reservoir of Redd's Pond, and to lay water pipes from it to the town with suitable hydrants, thus greatly improving the town's water supply.
Abigail Beckett HAWKES was born in 1812 and baptized January 08, 1813 in Salem, daughter of Benjamin and Nabby (Beckett) HAWKES. Her sister Ednah P. HAWKES (b. 1798 and baptized in Salem, Essex Co., MA on June 05, 1831, daughter Benjamin and Abigail. Ednah married June 09, 1844 in Marblehead to Robert ORNE (bp. March 24, 1799, son of John and Mary (Pearce) ORNE and brother of her husband, Adoniram Collins ORNE). Benjamin HAWKES and "Nabby" BECKETT filed marriage intentions August 14, 1791 in Salem, Essex Co., MA. September 16, 1842, but she also had a brother, William Hawkes ORNE (b. December 1837 - Burial: 1927 Harborview Cemetery, Marblehead, Essex Co., MA). William married July 02, 1866 in Marblehead to Lucilla H. YOUNG (b. 1844 - Burial: 1927 Harborview Cemetery, Marblehead, Essex Co., MA). 4 children ORNE.
