It has now been determined, on the basis of Y-DNA analysis, that the Southern Branch of Forney from colonial North Carolina and at least two of the Northern Branches from colonial Pennsylvania are, in fact, related.
There were less than 37 markers in common for all the data results, since each of the three volunteers' Y-DNA was tested by a different vendor firm, and there were two standards in effect as well, but that was enough to show a relationship that is quite close.
If more Forneys from each designated branch could be tested, further refinement showing the relationships might be possible.
