Forney Family Genealogy Forum

There was a Forney living in a house that no longer exists in Shelby North Carolina. In approx. 1981 my mother took me to visit this house in order to see and photograph the grandfather clock brought from Germany in the 1740's by our ancestor "Pioneer" Peiter Heyl (changed to Hoyle). The lady of the house allowed us to see the clock; I do not know if she was kin to us, or married to a descendant of our ancestor. The Historic Hoyle Homestead (on National Register) is in Dallas, NC, right outside of Gastonia NC. The house has been undergoing restoration for some time, and the 2nd Saturday of every year there is a big celebration to raise funds for the ongoing work. Although the present owner of the clock (whereabouts unknown) may not wish to donate the clock to the home of its original owner Peiter Heyl, we would appreciate info, and a better photograph, as the base of the clock is in shadow. Thank you for any info, however small.
