Dear Mark,

13th March 1774. Robert Phorson and Isabel Unns in Drygrange a.s.n. Thomas; w. Andrew Lumsden, James Amos Melrose Regs. p304

This is probably the birth record of Thomas Forson who married Jannet Watters.

No other possible link in the Scottish OPR records has so far been found, and the age make sense - Thomas would have married aged 20. The only slight snag is with names - Thomas has changed his name from Phorson to Forson. But the spelling of the name Forson is often Phorson or Forsan with occasional other variants (presumably the local minister wrote as he heard it. It is likely that most of the Forsons could not read or write at that time). One branch of the family, descended from Robert Forson and Isabel Unns, mostly living in England today has kept the spelling Phorson.

Do you have a connection to the Scottish Forson family? If so, I would be very interested to exchange information.

Andrew Forson, Warwickshire, England

PS. If you want to know more about me and my branch of the family, I have sent various messages via genforum before - see message 54-57, 61-67...!!
