Dear James

I have only recently discovered the Gen Forum. I am replying to your note of 18 Oct 1999 (Forson note no 19)!! I am sure you have moved forward since then, so you may already know what I put below.

I am Andrew Granger Forson (b1937),currently living in Northamptonshire, England, a great grandson of Andrew Forson (1838-1923) who was born at Redhouses, Dryburgh and worked as a straw hat maker in Rutherglen, Glasgow and died in New Malden Surrey, England. His youngest son was Andrew James (1872-1948). Is this your grandfather?

There was a Robert Forson (1851-1909) who was the younger brother of Andrew (1838-1923). I have a copy of a family register that he wrote out for Andrew in 1882. The only information I have about Robert’s descendants is that he had a son Capt Alexander RNR (1889-1932), who was buried at sea (Dryburgh memorial stone).

I also have information on William Forson (1665-1741), his wife and his descendants - I can follow the family line from him to myself. This information is partly from the Dryburgh memorials and partly from family records written in the 19th century that add to the memorials information.
