Hi Pam, Good to run into another Forston descendent, especially from the John William Forston/Mahala Elliston pairing. I am stuck with this same John William. I have a little information on Mahala Elliston. She was the daughter of Loudon W. Elliston and Harriet Dawson. I have her death certificate (I think!). As far as the Forston's go, I think the Civil War may have been an interruption which caused us to lose track of them. According to tax records in Woodford County, John Forston was a slave holder and I think he might have gone off to fight for the South in the Civil War. Although my memory is a little foggy, I thing there may have been a William Forston captured with General John Hunt Morgan in his famous Ohio raid. I have not been able to verify to my satisfaction that this is the same person as JOhn William Forston. Please email me at rforston@prodigy.net I am located in Lexington, KY and ever Forston in this are is descended from this the union mentioned above. Unfortunately, all of them are "not helpful" in proceeding mych further. I'll be happy to discuss some of the family rumors, myths, and folklore that I'm aware of. Thanks for leaving a not. Maybe between us we can make some progress. Dick Forston Notify Administrator about this message?
