i read your query today about info. on Wm. R. Fortner. You did not list the approximate date of birth or era that Wm. Fortner lived in. I have read some info. on Wm. R. Fortner of Tipton County, Tenn. Census of 1850. that stated that he was born in N.C. wife was Mary born abt. 1815 Sons James born 1839 Richard born 1841 and Milton born 1843, and a land deed of sale by Richard Fortner of the same State & County written around 1830 0r 1840 that says his property joined that of W.R. Fortner and James Fortner. What land deeds of sale that I have copies of are of the Fortners-Richard, Robert Jr. Robert Senior, John, Elizabeth and Amy Ann Fortner, that were written as Fortners,Falkner & Faulkner of Wayne County, N.C. According to these land deeds, Robert Sr. & his wife Jane Fortner were the parents of of the previous named Fortners. land deeds date from 1790 thru 1825. I do not know if this is the same Wm. R. Fortner that you are looking for. If I can help you in any way please let me know.
