Hi, Stephanie,
I've worked on Etheldred's family for years. Contact me privately and we can share info. There is no proof of Etheldred's parents but I suspect that he was son of Aaron Faulkner/Fortner of Granville/Iredell/ Wilkes Co. NC.

You probably already have the following info:

Elijah Fortner household, 1850 U.S. Census, District 10, Hawkins County, Tennessee, p. 373, line 29, family no. 55.
Elijah Fortner, age 55 farmer, born NC; Martha, age 50, born NC; Samuel, age 25, born TN; Thomas, age 14, born TN; Elizabeth, age 11, born TN.

Elijah Fortner household, 1860 U.S. Census, Rogersville P.O., Hawkins County, Tennessee, page 37 (top left).
Ellijah Fortner, age 66, farmer, born NC; Martha, age 60, born NC.
(Samuel Fortner lived nearby.)

Martha Fortner household, 1870 U.S. Census, Rogersville P.O., Hawkins County, Tennessee, p. 139, line 20, family no. 275.
Martha Fortner, age 70, born NC; Elizabeth Lawson, age 30, born TN; Thomas Lawson, age 12; William Lawson, age 10; Orville E. Lawson, age 7; Sallie Lawson, age 3.

Regards, Drew Welch
