my great x 4 grandfather was named james fortner and he was born on 2/28/1810 in either tennessee or alabama, not sure which. his wife's name was gatsie manning and he had eight children, mary, william, nancy, thomas andrew, richard henry, maly ann (or mellisa), nathaniel, and francis elizabeth. he was the sheriff of conecuh county alabama in 1867. his father was born in tennessee and his mother was born in south carolina but i don't have any information on them. i would like to know if anyone has any idea what the names of his parents were and if anyone knows anything more about his ancestry. i am also trying to find any more living descendants of my great great uncles, their names were james nolly, clarence, william, horace, carl, and leaonard fortner. they also had a sister hortense but i don't know her married last name. they lived in conecuh county alabama. please let me know if you can help. thanks!
