Hello,
Here is what I have from a relative of mine.He compiled everything using court/census records and oral history.I've had this information since 1995.Much of it originated from Joe Porter (deceased) who descended from John Fortner (son of Etheldred).
Etheldred (1777-1852) was married twice. Not sure when/why his marriage to Sarah ended (whether death or divorce), but he remarried Margaret Fortner around 1830.He had at least 13 children with Sarah, though I can only find 12 entries in the records I have.He was a farmer and a baptist minister and performed at least one marriage ceremony.
His brothers were Flud (Flood or Floyd) and Shugar (Sugar).
His children were:
1)John Fortner (1794-1850/60) m. Elizabeth Highfield and Nancy Eaves Duck
2)Elijah Fortner (1796-1870/80) m. Martha and Elizabeth Davis
3)Female Fortner(1798)
4)Violet Fortner (1798)
5)Mary Fortner (1802)
6)Levi Fortner (1804) m. Sally Greaer (don't have any info on whether Sarah (his mom) was living with them
7)Female2 Fortner (1806)
8)Elizabeth Fortner (1808)
9)Aaron Fortner (1810) m. Judy Phillips
10)Lucinda Fortner (1812)
11)Louesey Fortner (1814)
12)William R. Fortner (1816) m. Armieo Lowe and Sarah L. Bias
Four descendents were named Dread (three Fortners and one Bumgardner).
In the 1850 Blount Co. TN census, his wife Margaret and 8 children are listed. His occupation is listed as "cooper" at this time, and he had joined the Quaker Society of 5 May 1850.He died in 1852 at age 75 and Margaret died in 1867.
I don't have Jacob or Daniel in my records as children.Hope this helps!
