Additional Info - Martha's family

Further to my post, I have uncovered some additonal information which comes from the "Roane County Historical Society Newsletter" (TN), Vol. 4, Issue 1, Jan. 1973. I believe that the information is based upon data contained in the Roane County Chancery Books 1824-45. This source states that Martha and family came from Virginia and settled Roane County, TN circa 1822. Her father is given as Stephen Fortson and wife as Elizabeth (unknown). Elder Stephen supposedly died about 1824. Issue: William, Stephen, Patsey (Martha, who married Samuel BROOKINS), Betsey (mrd. Freeman), Adaline (mrd. Syolar), Mary Ann and Charles. This source goes on to say that all lived in Roane Co., except son William who lived in Alabama and Patsey (MARTHA), who lived with her husband in Davidson Co., TN.

This information does seem to fit in with what I have obtained. The brother Stephen fits, although family notes say he came from Virginia to visit Martha. Possibly he actually traveled from Tennessee. Also, Martha and husband Samuel Brookin are said to have lived in Davidson Co., whereas they are enumerated 1830 in Robertson Co. Of course both counties are contiguous so there may have been a re-alignment or maybe they made a move. Exact dates are not given.

I know I have to start the process of obtaining copies of documents but this lead seems credible and a good place to begin. Just thought I would update my post.
