Fortson European Ancestry

Greetings:

I have been researching the European ancestry of the surname "Fortson"...I have only found limited evidence of a possible Welsh background. I would appreciate any information about the European origin of the Fortson surname.

For the American background the following book has been my best resource:

A Family History: Lt. Thomas Fortson 1742-1924 and some of His Descendents. Published in 1973 by
Boyd Publishing Co. Inc.
