I would think that the A. J. Fortson who bought land from my gr-grandfather, Peter Davis Wynne, Jr., in 1860 would have been "Andrew Jackson Fortson". This is just an assumption based on fact that the picture I took in 1980 of Bona H. Fortson was the granddaughter of Andrew Jackson Fortson. She was living on what was probably the same piece of land Peter Davis Wynne sold to her granddfather.
If Aaron J.Fortson was the son of William George Fortson, then Aaron would have been a brother to Andrew Jackson, wouldn't he? Best thing to do is check the 1850, 1860 and 1870 De Soto Parish LA census.
Another place to check is the De Soto Parish LA cemetery records. I will keep a lookout for you.
Frankly, I have never traced the Fortson line, even though I am always interested in any possible connection with my Wynne family. I will let you know if I run across Aaron J. Fortson.
