Jim, I had thought all Fortson descendants were dead. I had counted the posts and most were mine so I decided to give up on Fortson surname completely. I know nothing abuot a reunion or whether it was held. I have never been to that Fortson reunion or to any if any were held. I have tried to contact the man who first told me that a Fortson reunion was indeed held in the past in Kilgore, Texas. I am assuming (ASSUMING = know nothing) this family gathering was descended from Elbert Co. Ga. Fortsons that moved through DeSoto Parish in La. into Texas via Van Zandt Co.Tx. and then Gregg Co.Texas (Kilgore area). I do not know the reunion connection if any to my Fortson line except they nmight have come out of Ga. with the William Fortson m. Ann Higginbotham family into Al. And, then to Mississippi and La. to Texas.William's youngest son was AARON b.7-26-1816.His son Jeptha M. was born 1845 Leake Co. Ms. and married Elizabeth Riley 1871 in Panola Co.Texas. Jeptha and wife disappeared after the 1910 Gregg Co.Texas census. Again, I ASSUME Jeptha M. Fortson is buried in West Mt. cemetery, Upshur Co.Texas. There is an unmarked grave just outside the Willingham plot, and the Jeptha Fortson family lived with the Willinghams from 1900 to 1910.
If you have anything to add to this I would be appreciative.
