Gwen
I am in danger of repeating myself here.
Below is a copy of an email that I sent earlier this evening:
My name is Ian van Ryssen
My mother was Alice Louisa Forward
My Grandfather (her mother) was Joseph William Forward
His father was Henry John Forward, married to Mary Emma Cox born in 1854 in Southwark,London. They were married at St Saviours, London in 1875. Mary Emma died in 1906. Henry John in 1908.
Henry John was born in 1854 in Bermuda and was shown as a nurse child, aged 7, with the Hilder family in the 1861 UK Census. I am not sure what a nurse child is but have been adcvised that it was another term for a foster child.
Henry John had a largish family. I have recently located 11 children, all born in St Olaves, London. They are taken from the findmypast records of births, marriages and deaths for the UK and date from 1837 onwards. I have not yet sought to obtain birth certificates, but have spoken with other members of the family and we are in general agreement.
The names of the children that I have are:
Harry b 1875; George Henry b 1876; Male b 1876; William Isaac b 1882; Emma Elizabeth b 1883; William Charles b 1882; Thomas Parsons b 1882; Frederick James b 1885and Sarah Louise b 1889.
I hope that this provides a connection and look forward to hearing from you
Regards
Ian Van Ryssen
